Medicare Part A
Medicare Part A covers inpatient hospital care. You must enroll if you receive Social Security and are over the age of 65.

Medicare Part B
Medicare Part B covers outpatient doctor care. Some people call Part B ‘Medical Insurance’ and covers outpatient and preventative medical services.

Medicare Part B is a medical insurance plan that covers a variety of services, including but not limited to: Physician services, Outpatient hospital services, Home health services, Durable medical equipment, Mental health services, Clinical research, Ambulance services, Limited outpatient prescription drugs, Inpatient hospital stays, Outpatient services provided during the three days before admission.

Medicare Supplement Insurance, also known as Medigap, is a private form of medical insurance that covers some out-of-pocket costs not covered by original Medicare.

Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) is extra insurance you can buy from a private health insurance company to help pay your share of out-of-pocket costs in Original Medicare. All Medigap policies are standardized. There are 10 different types of Medigap plans offered in most states, named by letters: A, B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M, & N. Price & rate stability are the only differences between plans with the same letter. Generally, you must have Original Medicare – Part A and Part B – to buy a Medigap policy.

A Medicare Advantage Plan (like an HMO or PPO) is another Medicare health plan choice you may have as part of Medicare. Medicare Advantage Plans, sometimes called “Part C” or “MA Plans,” are offered by private companies approved by Medicare. If you join a Medicare Advantage Plan, the plan will provide all of your Part A and Part B coverage. Medicare Advantage Plans may offer extra coverage, such as vision, hearing, dental, and/or health and wellness programs. Most include Medicare prescription drug coverage (Part D).

Medicare Part D
This is the Prescription Drug plan not covered by original Medicare. Medicare Part D adds prescription drug coverage to existing Medicare benefits.
Medicare Part D
Medicare Part D is a prescription drug benefit that helps cover the cost of most outpatient prescription drugs. Part D is optional and offered through private insurance companies. Part D plans may be obtained by a standalone Part D plan or included in a Medicare Advantage plan. Failure to have credible Part D coverage may result in a lifelong monthly Late Enrollment Penalty (LEP).
